Day 141, Friday, May 21st, 2021

Follow Up with Dr. Kelly

It was time to follow up on a few things for Anna with Dr. Kelly. We met a new nurse who we loved, she was super chatty and super nice to Anna. Anna’s vitals were good and we got the all clear for another six months. No blood draw needed, woohoo!

Jenny Visits

Jenny and Wyatt came down with the dogs for a quick visit to celebrate a late Mother’s Day. I got some perfume and a book, two of my fave things. Thank you, Angel! Jenny also let me take her picture… I love her alabaster freckled skin, she is so beautiful!

Delayed Mother’s Day

The only thing I really wanted for Mother’s Day was a family photo with my mom and kids. Curtis used my iPhone to capture a few photos and I like this one best. I adore my family and I am so blessed.

Day 144, Monday, May 24th, 2021

Jason from Gold Star

We’ve been using Gold Star Exterminators for our pest control since we moved to New Braunfels in 2014. Our Austin company served this area but they just didn’t control the big bad pests we get out here in the country like scorpions, tarantulas, and red-headed centipedes. Jason was our first tech years ago but left to pursue other career opportunities. I was so happy to see him on Monday that I gave him a big hug. We had the nastiest infestation of ants in the kid’s shower in year two that he was persistent in treating and finally getting rid of. We became friends during that time of frequent visits. It was great to see him again.

Spider in Hiding

My mom has a raised garden to grow food for her Egyptian tortoises. One of the flowers she grows there is a pretty yellow flower. I thought the tightly bound buds were beautiful and worth photographing, especially this one with one green leaf still attached to the bud. After I snapped this, I noticed that small little blob on the upper left. What was it? It was a spider in hiding!

Not Jumping, Sleeping Spider

The small little blob (maybe 1/16”) was actually a spider! I’m pretty sure it was a jumping spider but I’ve never seen one all drawn up like this with its legs over its head. Maybe it was sleeping?!?

Day 146, Wednesday, May 26th, 2021

Skipper Moth

There wasn’t much going on Wednesday except we had the petsitters for Key West come meet our animals and Anna had PT. In between those appointments, I went out to see if I could find an insect to photograph. Well hello little skipper moth! They look so velvety, don’t they? I also found a really cool fly called a black bee fly but didn’t get a good enough photo this time. I’ll try again!

Day 147, Thursday, May 27th, 2021

Here Comes the Bus

I love iPhones and that you can share your location with family members. It makes it easy for me to wait for Anna’s bus in the afternoon because I can see when she’s getting close. The title seemed fitting and now you have the ear worm of the Beatles song… but wait, here’s another ear worm…

School’s Out for Summer

Alice Cooper anyone? Thursday was the last day of school for 2020-2021… school’s out for summer! We got a giant cookie cake for Life Bridges thanking them for a great year and some M&M cookies for the bus driver and aide. They’ve been a great crew this year and Tanya always texts me if they are running early or late. It was a good year for Anna too, despite the pandemic. It will be nice to sleep in now!
