Lucy
While in Waco and Mexia, we got to bond with Lucy, Bill’s dog. She’s the cutest little Boston Terrier mix bundled in a 10-pound ball of energy. We all loved her! I had borrowed a friend’s camera to see if I wanted to use it for our upcoming trip to Key West and I got this shot of Lucy while she was wandering outside. Unfortunately my iMac is so old that I couldn’t read the camera’s raw files so I screenshotted the image to share here. Isn’t she adorable?

Teddy’s Chair
Mom’s dog, Teddy, is so cute… he likes to sit in one of mom’s chairs on her porch like a little king surveying his kingdom. He will chill there for long stretches of time. Something new he is doing… he pulls all the blankets off mom’s bed to make a comfy nest on the floor. Little stinker!

Dominic’s First Time Driving Solo
Mom needed something mailed and asked Dominic to do it for her. Our neighborhood has a central mailbox kiosk that’s about 4 miles away from our house. We didn’t make a big deal about it, but this was Dominic’s first time to drive solo since he got his license last week. I had to pop outside and get a photo of his return! He said it was strange to be in the car by himself.

Sunshine’s 3-Year Gotcha Day
Three years ago, mom adopted Sunshine, the Egyptian tortoise. She is a very sweet creature, super tame, and even reacts when mom sings her “You are my Sunshine.” Happy Gotcha Day, Sunshine and mom!

Anna Checks Zachary’s Temperature
Ever since we got back from Waco/Mexia, Anna has been obsessed with Uncle Bill. One of the ways she works through her anxiety, especially about anything medical, is playing with her baby dolls and having them be sick. Right now, Zachary is battling pneumonia and has been on antibiotics. She checks his temperature frequently, administers medication, and gives him lots of cuddles.

Comforting Zachary at the Feed Store
In preparation for our trip to Key West, Anna and I stopped at the New Braunfels Feed Store to get dog food. Our neighbors will be pet-sitting for us and I wanted to be sure we had plenty of food on hand for them. Anna insisted on bringing Zachary with us since he’s so ill. Of course she got lots of attention in the store because he looks so real. Here he had just thrown up so she was giving him some comforting hugs.
Day 168, Thursday, June 17th, 2021
Packing Day
Taking 6 people on a 6-day trip is no joke when it comes to packing. I’m really trying not to overpack but it’s HARD y’all. I’m an OCD planner and thinker of contingencies. I’ve already signed up for Winn Dixie and Shipt accounts so we can have groceries delivered our first day there. Since we will be staying in a condo with a full kitchen, we plan on having 1-2 meals a day in the condo to save some money. I am getting so excited! I really hope we have a lovely, relaxing, beautiful vacation. Our family deserves it. I’m not sure I’ll be able to share photos from this week next Friday or not… I hope so, but it may take me an extra day or two to get everything ready.
