Lunch with a Friend
Oh my goodness, it was so nice to get a few days away with my husband! It was a little overwhelming returning to excited dogs and excited kids and a jam-packed calendar but so so worth the time away. I had lunch with a friend and we decided to eat at Naturally, one of my favorite spots to get a salad in New Braunfels. The food is consistently delicious and fresh. My favorite is the Mariposa salad which has slivered almonds, cranberries, and feta cheese with balsamic vinaigrette.

Dominic Gets His License
After having his permit for 10 months and driving really well for nearly that long, Dominic took his driver’s test and passed!!! Way to go, Dominic!!! He is an excellent driver, he’s careful, follows the rules, and pays attention. We are so proud of him! I’m a little sad to be done ferrying him around, it gave us quality time to talk. It’s a bittersweet milestone for sure. My baby is growing up.

Anna Earns a Pedicure
Anna was soooo well behaved for my mom and Dominic while Curtis and I were out of town. I told her that she and I would do something special together as a reward and she picked getting a pedicure! I had a pedi the week before so I kept her company while she got hers. We played Frozen Free Fall together and she watched some Frozen Disney Infinity gaming on YouTube which had her cracking up. The nail techs didn’t know what to think of us!

At the Hospital
Curtis’s Uncle Bill has been sick and was put in the hospital earlier this week, first diagnosed with a UTI then with pneumonia. Judy, Curtis’s mom, is still in Mexia from February when she came down to help Bill while Sharon was hospitalized with COVID. Sharon was very sick with COVID, in the ICU for 2 weeks and almost died, then in rehab working on regaining lung strength for a couple of months. When she finally got to come home in mid-April, she fell and broke her ankle in 3 places. Sharon has been in a rehab facility in Mexia recovering and Judy has been continuing to take care of Bill. When Curtis heard how stressed his mom was, he wondered if he should go up there to support her. I offered to come with him then the kids decided they wanted to come as well. So we all hopped in the car Thursday morning and headed to Waco to see Bill in the hospital. It was soooo good to hug Judy and gently hug Bill. We could tell he wasn’t feeling well but he was glad we came. It didn’t feel right to snap a photo of him in the hospital bed so you get a masked selfie of me and the kids.
Anna and Sharon
Anna and Sharon have become phone buddies. Anna loves talking on the phone and she regularly calls all the relatives to chat. Sharon is one of her favorites. They talk and talk and talk. After leaving Waco, we headed to Mexia to see Sharon. We haven’t gotten to see her in years. Sharon is still in rehab for her broken ankle and isn’t sure when she will get to come home. Since Bill can’t drive (because of his eyesight), Judy will stay until Sharon is able to drive again. I love this family so much. I love how everyone is there to help each other and I love how kind they are to Anna. Side note, while at the rehab facility, an older gentleman known as Mr. Scott scooted his wheelchair into our little family visiting spot and took quite a shine to Anna. He just thought she was the prettiest thing and kept trying to hug her. Anna was thrilled. She loves being flirted with and just thought he was adorable. Sharon kept trying to shoo him away and the rest of us were just laughing our butts off. Too cute.
Thanks for looking!
