I Am Strong Because…
This week’s prompt is “I am strong because” for the Instagram project #portraitsofme. This is simple. Motherhood.
I am strong because of motherhood. I am missing Jenny in this photo and a baby (I’m certain was a boy) that would have been in between Jenny and Anna. You can’t prepare for being a mom. You can read all the books, magazines, Pinterest boards, and message forums. You can be raised in a big family. You can have siblings. But nothing really prepares you for that moment you first meet your first baby. POW.
I can hold a dozen things in my arms and still unlock the door gracefully. I can carry the weight of these children’s futures on my shoulders and still walk tall. I can be afraid when they are away from me but still have faith that everything will be okay.
I am strong because I am a mother.
