Macro Mondays: Glass

Monday, September 3rd, 2018

This week’s theme for the Flickr Macro Monday group is “Glass.” From this week’s instructions (from Carolyn Z):

Glass is an interesting substance. It can transmit light, reflect it, or transform it to shimmering rainbows. It can be moulded to form bowls or drinking glasses. Glass can be drawn out to form the optical fibers that may have helped to deliver this internet content.

Glass comes in all sorts of colours and moods – your glass may be half empty or half full, depending on your outlook. And of course we photographers are always trying to acquire the best glass we can.

This week, “Glass” will be the subject of our photos. Please share with the group a macro shot of one of the interesting aspects of this material!

Very Special Glass

This was a gift from my mother… it is a miniature glass camera, modeled to look like a Nikon with a 50mm lens (the entire camera is about 4″x3″). I thought it would be the perfect subject for the Macro Mondays theme of glass. My mother has a tiny glass piano that is very dear to her and that I’ve always loved… this ties the two treasures together.

It was a busy end to the summer and I did shoot a couple of Macro Mondays that I shared on Flickr but didn’t have time to share here. So you get a couple of bonus shots this week, lol.

Refreshing Refreshment

The Macro Mondays theme for July 2nd was “Refreshment.” My favorite refreshment of all time is simply water… especially on a hot summer’s day sitting beside the pool. <3

Mesh Makes Music

The Macro Mondays theme for August 13th was “Mesh.” Music is a huge part of our lives. Anna uses it to cope with stressful situations. Curtis and I use it to relax and to party. Dominic likes to listen to video game soundtracks. Jenny and my mom are music connoisseurs. We have music playing in our house all the time and when we don’t, usually one of us is listening through our headphones. I like Apple’s earphones, but no one else does, so I’ve inherited all of them. I have them stashed everywhere! I’m so impressed that such amazing sound can come through those tiny mesh screens and completely change my mood. This particular pair is resting on our Bose Color II Soundlink which also has amazing sound in a small package.
