Introvert or Extrovert?
This week’s prompt is “Introvert or Extrovert?” for the Instagram project #portraitsofme. I am an extreme introvert. I require alone time to recharge; being around large groups, being excessively social, being “on” for meetings/errands/life depletes my energy stores. In order to stay balanced, I must have some quiet space in which to recover. After learning more about the autism spectrum, I sometimes wonder if I would’ve been just a tad shy of having Asperger Syndrome had I been tested as a child. In addition to my introversion, I get sensory overload very easily and shut down in crowds. I like order, routine, structure, and predictability. Since Curtis is an extreme extrovert, it took us a while in our marriage to fully understand each other. Our marriage counselor told us years ago that Curtis would need to get filled up by being out more, and with as much as he travels, he’s usually pretty happy now with the social versus home balance.

Sorry this is a day late… we’ve been very busy lately and had two social engagements Friday and Saturday. We also have big news for Anna coming up soon and a celebration for Dominic, so stay tuned! Thanks for looking!
