366 in 52 [2016] ~ Week Forty-One

We all had a decent week! It’s been busy, lots of fun stuff… Art League reception Friday night; Dominic made homemade bath bombs Saturday; he had friends over on Sunday (and I got to take a plethora of amazing images at Cole’s house when we dropped him back off… his mom, Courtney, is the best gardener I’ve ever met!); Anna started STAR bowling Monday and did well; I took my neighbor, Andrea, with me to my first New Braunfels Photographic Society meeting Monday night (and came home with some new ideas about my art! <stay tuned>); and the kids have both had pretty good weeks this week. Curtis even traveled Tuesday through Thursday this week and Anna handled it well. Yay!!! I feel like I wrote so much last week that I don’t really want to write hardly at all this week. I’m kinda drained!

Day 281 ~ Honorable Mention

Friday, October 7th, 2016

My family came to the New Braunfels Art League to support me Friday night in finding out what award I had won. I was awarded an Honorable Mention for Lost in My Head. The judge said: “Good design, values, and mood.” The Jury Process to become a displaying member at the Art League is less than a month away. I’ve got to choose three of my best images and have a lock on two out of the three. We went out to eat at Underground Pizza afterward. I was missing Jenny a ton.

Day 282 ~ Homemade Bath Bombs

Saturday, October 8th, 2016

Instead of baking something this weekend, Dominic made his friends homemade bath bombs. He had been telling them about the bath bombs for Nana’s birthday last month and they couldn’t believe he’d made them, so he made three different scents to share with his friends. I love that he’s gotten interested in something other than a screen!

The following images were all taken in Courtney’s garden with her permission. They are each pretty but don’t really tell a story other than that they feed my soul. I hope you enjoy them.

Day 283 ~ Amazing Sage

Sunday, October 9th, 2016

Seriously, have you ever seen so many beautiful blooms in your life?

Day 283 ~ Circular

Sunday, October 9th, 2016

This conical flower has a perfect circular center. It’s rather spiky when you touch it.

Day 283 ~ Eye Deep

Sunday, October 9th, 2016

There were bees everywhere. This one had his head inside of the bloom all the way up to his eyes.

Day 283 ~ Vibrant

Sunday, October 9th, 2016

The colors are so vibrant that they almost don’t look real.

Day 283 ~ Waspish

Sunday, October 9th, 2016

This bug was crawling and hopping all over this large bush in the backyard. It looks like a wasp but I didn’t see it fly. There were tons of these and they move very quickly.

Day 283 ~ Berrylicious

Sunday, October 9th, 2016

These berries grabbed the light and shadow so beautifully that I didn’t have to do anything to this image in post.

Day 283 ~ Wings Aglow

Sunday, October 9th, 2016

A little bit different perspective on the bee in the flower. His wings literally glowed.

Day 283 ~ Pollinating

Sunday, October 9th, 2016

I positioned myself so that the pollinating bee would be captured in the bauble of bokeh in the background. So pretty!

Day 285 ~ Middle School Arm Doodling

Tuesday, October 11th, 2016

Dominic came home from school Tuesday with marker and ink all over his arms. He had a huge red splotch on his left arm where he was trying to make it look like a wound. Ewww. Middle school boys. I remember this phase of childhood and am looking forward to it being done.

Day 286 ~ Doing Homework Together

Wednesday, October 12th, 2016

Anna came home with homework to do because she refused to work in class. Dominic was actually the one that helped her since he was working on homework too. He was very patient with her and used a great tone of voice and attitude. He took the time to teach her and not just tell her what to do. He could be a tutor! I was quite impressed.

Day 287 ~ Side Slice

Thursday, October 13th, 2016

After Dominic left for school this morning, I went into his room to turn off his lights. Domino the guinea pig came out to chirp and touch noses with the dogs, so I opened Dominic’s window blind to let the sun in. Right outside his window was the most enormous spider web with a small spider at the center. I got my macro and went outside but could only get a side angle on this beautiful creation. The light wasn’t good, so I just grabbed a quick side shot.
