First Sleepover Since 2019

Dominic has an amazing group of core friends. One of his closest friends is Cole. Cole got his Covid vaccines recently so we invited him to come over for a weekend sleepover. The boys had a really nice visit! We’ve actually invited Cole to come on vacation with us to Key West!

Ladybug on the Mealy Sage

Sometimes to escape stress, I simply go in my backyard with my macro lens. That’s what I did Saturday evening and look what I found! This is Blue Mealy Sage, a native Texas plant and I counted 4 bugs on it including the ladybug!  This was a super quick shot as the sun was setting so I didn’t take the time to focus stack to get the entire flower in focus. Don’t judge!

Dominic and Cole’s Galaxy Cake

One of the big things the boys wanted to do over the weekend was to make a galaxy cake. Google it! Dominic had me buy supplies on Friday and he and Cole started making the cake on Saturday. He didn’t believe me when I said one box of cake mix made two cakes so there was a little incident with the cake batter running over the cake pans in the oven. But I kept my mouth shut and let them learn by trial and error. I went back to the store and got more cake mix and they made a beautiful four layer chocolate cake with an attempt at a galaxy gelatin glaze on Sunday. I didn’t have the right colors of food coloring so that is some of why the glaze didn’t turn out. But it still tasted delicious!

Day 116, Monday, April 26th, 2021

Mike at O’Reilly’s

Upon leaving WW on Saturday, my car took seven turns of the ignition to actually start the engine. I had a bunch of errands to run but took my car home instead because I was worried about the battery. I thought I would just park it and take it to get looked on Monday. Monday the car started right up but I went ahead and took it to O’Reilly’s in Canyon Lake. I had gotten a new battery there just three years and two months ago. Of course the battery only had a three-year warranty… figures right? Mike came out and tested the battery and sure enough it was nearly dead. So he was kind enough to replace it for me even though they are not supposed to go inside of cars right now. The Enclave’s battery is actually located in the floor behind the front passenger seat. Thank you, Mike!

Aphrodite’s Closet

I know I have talked about Tina, owner of Aphrodite’s Closet, before on my blog… she is a bra goddess. She knows so much about women’s breasts and how to put them in the most flattering bra possible. She’s also an expert at mastectomy fittings. She recently moved her little shop into a bigger space and I love it! I got to visit her for the first time in over a year and was able to buy three bras off the shelf and order two more from my favorite designer in Poland, Ewa Michalak. I’m happy to say that I’ve lost over 17 pounds since the end of February so nothing fit quite right… it was definitely time for new bras! I’m a 32H at the moment. If you have hard to fit ta-tas like me, do yourself a favor and go see Tina!

Day 118, Wednesday, April 28th, 2021

Uno Wild +4

Anna came home from Life Bridges recently and said that she has been playing Uno with her favorite job coach, Mr. Billy (who is her new obsession by the way). I was able to find a deck of Uno cards at H-E-B so we have been playing at home. She had trouble holding all the cards so I got her a card holder from Amazon. She gets so tickled when she gets to play the wild draw 4 card. Here she played it on Nana and started cackling. Nana didn’t look quite as amused!

Curious Young Deer

We had Jack with This Old Man Handyman come over to install our Ring doorbell. While I was unlocking the front door, our herd of deer was in the front yard asking me for breakfast. I grabbed my camera and got a few shots before feeding them. This curious young deer was not afraid of me at all!
