This week’s theme for the Flickr Macro Mondays group is “Vowel.” From this week’s instructions (from George Frizzell):
The English alphabet is made up of 26 letters, 5 of which are vowels (a, e, i, o, u) and the rest of which are consonants.
So, for this week’s macro theme we will be photographing something that starts with a vowel (the letter a, e, i, o, u). This can be the subject (eg apple, egg, umbrella) or an adjective (eg instant coffee, orange wool – the ‘i’ in instant and the ‘o’ for orange meet the rules of the theme, therefore photographs would be accepted. Equally, any object starting with a vowel is accepted too; it does not have to have an adjective, it can simply be something starting with a, e, i, o or u.
Please note that although the letter ‘Y’ can act as a vowel, for this theme we will not accept the use of the letter ‘Y’ as a vowel.
Get your thinking caps on as there should be many items out there to photograph beginning with a vowel. Remember the choice of macro photograph beginning with a vowel is yours. Have fun with the theme and be creative.
To assist the moderators, please ensure you give a description of what your macro photograph is if it is not obvious, in either the title or description fields when you are uploading your photograph. Also, importantly, the name of the photographed subject must start with a vowel in English otherwise it may be removed by the moderators.
Angel Ornament
Christmas is almost here! We celebrated Jenny’s birthday over the weekend (she turned 27 last Thursday). Late last week, I got my tree up and decorated as well as the house decorated. I think two days is a record! Last year it took me over 10 days and was such a chore. I’m feeling good this year.
This tiny ballerina angel ornament (A for Angel and O for Ornament… perfect for the vowel theme!) is one of my favorite ornaments and one of the last ones I put on the tree every year. Ever since I was a little girl, I’ve had a fascination and adoration for miniature things. This little angel ballerina ornament is just over an inch high and I’ve had her since I was a teenager. Seeing her adorn the tree brings me such joy because I associate her with Jenny, whom I’ve always called My Little Angel on Earth. I can’t remember life before my kids and Christmas is my favorite holiday. It’s become a bittersweet time of year because the holidays make Anna so anxious. There are times when I don’t even want to decorate, so I’m happy that the spirit is within me this year. Wishing all of you a very happy holiday season. <3
