Macro Mondays: Decay

Monday, August 6th, 2018

This week’s theme for the Flickr Macro Monday group is “Decay.” From this week’s instructions (from Steve Crawford):

On all things, time inevitably takes its toll. Paint peels, concrete crumbles, food molds, and wood rots but beauty, interest and inspiration can often be found therein.

This week, take a macro photograph of an object in a state of decay. Not atomic decay, tooth decay, urban decay or something which is merely dirty, tarnished, broken or worn but something unmistakably crumbling, disintegrating, rotting or in a similar state of progressive physical deterioration.

Beauty in Death

This small rose is from our backyard rose bush. It has died and begun withering on the bush. (Which reminds me that I really need to get out there and prune.) It is a perfect subject for this week’s Macro Monday theme of “decay.” There is beauty in death and decay… it reminds us that every living thing has an end and we need to enjoy our bloom while we can.
