Macro Mondays: Photography Gear

Monday, July 23rd, 2018

This week’s theme for the Flickr Macro Monday group is “Photography Gear & Equipment.” From this week’s instructions (from Hans Holt):

This week you are asked to photograph something (or part of something) from your Photography Gear & Equipment. Easy isn’t it? You don’t have to search around, it is probably already in the direct vicinity of your camera. What do we expect?

Well, a part of or the whole – depending if it fits within the 3” (=7.6cm) rule – of the outside or inside of your other camera, another lens, tripod, flash, battery, bag, memory card, air blower, … you name it. As long as it is a plausible part of your photography gear it is allowed. When an item is not easy recognizable at first sight, please tell what the subject is in your description.

(Not) 2 Focused

I’m sure no one has noticed that I haven’t posted anything to my blog in a month. That’s the first time that’s happened since I started blogging in 2009. I actually did do a Macro Monday post in early July but the theme (and the image) was so boring that I didn’t feel like publishing it on my website, then the themes for the next two weeks just didn’t inspire me. We’ve had a busy summer and I have hardly picked up my camera at all. I still haven’t edited Anna’s birthday photos from March and they were freaking awesome pictures! My father-in-law visited in early July to attend Boy Scouts summer camp with Curtis and Dominic, I have a few pictures to share from that as well. Time just keeps disappearing!

For this Macro Monday photography gear theme, I shot my DSLR Lens Focus Calibration Card. I purchased it several years ago when I got my Sigma 35mm f/1.4 ART lens and needed to micro-calibrate it. That lens worked beautifully on my Nikon D700 but even with using the lens dock and micro-calibrating it several times, it misses focus on my D750… so I don’t use it anymore. For this image, I focused my Nikkor 105mm f/2.8 macro lens on the #2 on the ruler and thought of the title… (Not) 2 Focused… because that’s how I am feeling with my photography this year. I purposely didn’t start any new projects, like the weekly P52 or daily P365, in the hopes that I would finally get caught up on my backlog of editing. I have so many personal projects that I would like to polish and submit to galleries. I am just not motivated at the moment! Sigh, this too shall pass. I think it happens to every artist, these lulls where you feel the nagging pressure to produce yet avoid actually working. Hopefully something will inspire me soon.

Thanks for being patient with me, my faithful readers and followers. I’ve missed you!
