This week’s theme for the Flickr Macro Monday group is “Speckled.” From this week’s instructions (from Janet Towbin):
Speckled (adjective): Covered or marked with a large number of spots or patches of color. Synonyms: flecked, freckled, spotted, spotty, mottled, dappled. This week you may photograph anything that is speckled. I believe there is an abundance of subject matter to choose from that will offer us a wide range of images to view on Monday. Tag your photos with “Macro Mondays” and this week’s theme: “Speckled” or alternatively you may use #MacroMondays and #Speckled.
Speckled Votive
We decided to make a huge change in our lives in 2014 and move from Austin to New Braunfels. It was time for a fresh start. The move renewed our marriage and also helped our children evolve, albeit with some growing pains. Having always purchased inexpensive furniture and grateful for hand-me-downs, this move also allowed me to really decorate our home with a fresh vision. We had the kitchen and exterior of the house painted and I chose teal blue and cream as our primary living room colors. I had so much fun choosing decorative accents and some of my favorite pieces are these mercury glass votive candle holders and vases. This particular piece is a small 2″ votive candle holder and has such a pretty speckled pattern that I knew it would blend perfectly with the other gold, cream, and silver pieces I already had. I love our home.

I haven’t yet picked up my camera to shoot anything significant this year but I will… I’m just enjoying life at the moment and being present in the moment. Thanks for looking!
