Macro Monday: Souvenir

Monday, October 16th, 2017

This week’s theme for the Flickr Macro Monday group is “Souvenir.” From this week’s instructions (from Alan Rust):

What objects have you brought back from holiday or trip to remind you of the good/bad time you had? As simple as that, take your souvenir, get in close, really close ………. closer still and take a photo. It would be nice if you mentioned in your description what the souvenir is and where it is from. Photographs of photographs or postcards are NOT allowed for this theme. Also please remember that this is a family friendly group. #souvenir

Special Souvenir

Having gone to Italy in July, Curtis and I brought back several special souvenirs. I’m not an especially nostalgic person so I don’t often think to pick up something to commemorate a special occasion but Curtis is that type of person, and I am so glad for that. One of the amazing places we got to visit was the Vatican in Rome. We spent several hours visiting the Vatican Museum, the Sistine Chapel, and St. Peter’s Basilica. On our way out, we stopped in the gift shop and Curtis picked out this small figurine of Christ on the cross. Though we are not Catholic, we are Christian. Seeing this tiny holy statue in my husband’s office reminds me of our incredible vacation and reminds me to be a better person than I was yesterday.
