What I’m Reading

This week’s prompt is “What I’m Reading” for the Instagram project #portraitsofme. I’ve really been enjoying reading again and have gone through three books in the last two weeks. My mom was taking a book back to the library a couple of days ago and I asked if I could tag along to check out one for myself. The Tye Preston Memorial Library located in Sattler is really quite an impressive library for a small lakeside community. I love perusing titles, picking up book after book, reading the dust jackets, then making my final selection. I ended up checking out a book called “I Liked My Life” by Abby Fabiaschi. Though the plot is sad (it’s about a mom who commits suicide), the characters are rich and the storyline compelling. Having lost two moms I’ve known to suicide, I’ve often wondered what pain they were hiding from their loved ones that drove them to take their lives without any indication of depression. If I were part of a book club, I would highly recommend this for study and discussion.
