This month’s theme for the New Braunfels Photographic Society is “Wildlife.” Now that winter is almost over, the deer are visiting our yard more frequently. As I was working in my office earlier this week, I noticed a single deer in my front yard. So I grabbed my camera, got a shot through the window, then headed outside with a bucket of deer nutrition. Before I knew it, I had a small herd in my yard. I got some great shots but I’m having a hard time picking my favorite to submit for the wildlife theme and I’ve had different responses from friends and family. What’s your favorite and why?
Through My Office Window
What a beautiful sight. Through my office window, as I work on my blog and photos, I see this deer grazing in my front yard. I am so lucky to live in such a beautiful place.

Breaking From the Herd
This herd of deer is trained. When they hear me shaking the feed bucket, they come running. One of them has become so familiar and comfortable with me that she follows me. Here she is breaking off from the rest of the herd to get fed.

Anticipation
This sweet doe is anticipating the deer nutrition I’m about to give her. I love that I caught her licking her lips!

Approach
I put some feed in the trough Dominic and my father-in-law built. She approaches.

She gets her reward! Yummy deer nutrition.

On the Move
Mom texted me a couple of weeks ago that she had found a tarantula… did I want to take a photo? Of course! I wouldn’t miss an opportunity to freak out my friends on Facebook. Teehee!
