366 in 52 [2016] ~ Week Thirty-Three

It has been back-to-back appointments and commitments this week, plus we have had non-stop rain. There has been historic flooding in Louisiana. I celebrated my 47th birthday. We got started on back to school shopping. The kids had medical checkups (times two each!). The kids go back to school next Tuesday, August 23rd. We are almost ready!

Day 225 ~ Present for Me

Mom came back from Pennsylvania with presents for everybody! Dominic got a ball cap and some stuff for Domino, Anna got a jacket and some hair bows, Jenny got a Vera Bradley umbrella, Chris got some local PA fire house patches, Curtis got a gorgeous wooden bowl for his office, and I got this beautiful handmade necklace. The chain is from my aunt and the stone is from my mom. I love this necklace! I’ve been wearing it nonstop this entire week. Thank you, mom and Beanie!!!

Day 227 ~ Bonding with Domino

We spent a lot of time together as a family this weekend since mom and Curtis were both home from traveling. Mom is gaga over Dominic’s new guinea pig. I think Domino is pretty fond of her too!

Day 227 ~ Stuart Loves the Walters

Jenny and Chris came down on Sunday to spend the night to celebrate my birthday a little early. Jenny got me some real makeup (not the grocery store kind!). She put together a custom palette for my eyes and it’s gorgeous. Anytime they visit, Stuart loves cuddling with Jenny and Chris. I looked over and saw Stuart snoozing on Chris’s lap (look at how his little legs are crossed!) and my heart melted. What a cute sight!

Day 228 ~ My Peeps

Monday both Anna and Dominic had checkups with their psychiatrist in Austin, so we got up early and headed out (it’s an hour and a half drive for us). Jenny and Chris slept in, then drove up to meet us for lunch, then headed home. We went to Lupe Tortilla for lunch (I looooove their vegetarian puffy tacos!) but we had to wait almost 35 minutes to get our food. We played some I Spy to pass the time and Dominic photo bombed our photo op.

Day 229 ~ Lots of Laundry

Tuesday meant chores and housework since we were gone pretty much all of Monday. Mom and Curtis had travel laundry plus all of our regular stuff plus pool stuff (we swam all weekend too). It was seven loads all together. I really do enjoy doing laundry, so I thought I’d try a self-portrait. Maybe the kids will enjoy seeing mom in her element some day. (On a personal note, since my thyroid levels are finally in a normal range, I’ve been counting WW points and I’m down over 14 pounds so far. I’ve still got a bit more to go to get back to where I was pre-surgeries but it’s progress.)

Day 230 ~ Seeking Refuge in the Rain

Rain, rain, rain. Day 230 this year also fell on my 47th birthday. Dominic had his annual well-check at 11:15, then we did a medium run to the grocery store. I had a quick lunch, then Anna had her annual check-up at 2:45. Then off to the feed store for dog food and deer nutrition, home, then out to dinner/dessert, home for presents. It was a busy day! I didn’t get a picture of birthday stuff but before we opened gifts, I saw all the Bambis huddling under the tree in our lot next door, trying to stay dry. Poor deer. Rudy is getting so big, 4 points so far on his rack! I’ll update about the kids’ appointments next week.

Day 231 ~ Ready to Recruit

Today Dominic and I headed to San Antonio to go the Boy Scout store because he outgrew his uniform this summer. Tonight they had a recruiting event at a local elementary school to encourage Cub Scouts to stay with the program and join the Boy Scouts. Didn’t he look handsome? We also did some back to school clothes shopping and he is officially wearing men’s clothes. He’s 5’1″ and wearing an 8.5 shoe already. I think he’s going to be tall like Daddy!

Day 231 ~ Growing Up

Dominic had a bit of a rough spot last week with a friend and dealt with some pretty big consequences. I am REALLY proud of how he’s handled himself. Both of his checkups went well and he even finished a summer reading project for pre-AP ELA today. 7th grade, here he comes!!!

Thanks for looking! I’ll try to have a more robust blog post next week. Smooches everyone!
