366 in 52 [2016] ~ Week Twenty

Anna was home sick again on Friday. We went to the doctor and she said Anna had a sinus infection and both ears had a LOT of fluid. Because of her anatomy, her microcephaly (small head circumference), and small nasal bridge, her Eustachian tubes are short so there is no where for the fluid to go when she gets a head cold. Anna has already had three sets of ear tubes and has had pneumonia five times. Doc started her on antibiotics and she rested most of the day. Curtis finally got home after traveling all week so that was nice.

Day 134 ~ Gigging

Curtis was so sweet to encourage me to go out Friday night. I’d been home with a very sick Anna on and off all week, he had been traveling, and mom was getting ready for a gig so I would not allow her to be around us for fear she would get sick too. Mom played at Jobell Cafe and Bistro in Wimberley with her friend, Deanna, aka The Trill County Flutes. They performed for over 2.5 hours, classical flute duets. I got to take Dominic out for dinner and listen to mom (dinner was meh… music was awesome!). She and Deanna played beautifully and I was so proud of her. <3

Day 135 ~ New Braunfels Intersection

Mom had been missing Anna so much so when she was done with her gig, she wanted to smush on her Booski for the whole weekend. So Curtis, Dominic, and I went out Saturday for lunch in New Braunfels. We ate at Underground Pizza (delish food!!!). After lunch, we drove through the neighborhood surrounding downtown. This intersection really caught my photographer’s eye… the composition of the tracks leading out and the LCRA sign way off in the distance. Love this.

Day 135 ~ The King and His Subject

Curtis, Dominic, and I ended up at the Antique Mall in New Braunfels after lunch on Saturday. This shop is incredibly clean and full of treasures. We found this awesome huge gold chair that Curtis had to try out. I teased him about being the King and Dominic knelt in respect. LOL!

Day 136 ~ Welcome to the Driskill

Spur of the moment on Sunday afternoon, I decided to join some friends who were having a photo walk in Austin on 6th Street. I’ll post those photos separately later, but wanted to share this shot I got of a stranger standing in front of the Driskill Hotel.

Day 137 ~ Still Sick

Monday comes, Anna is still just as sick as she was on Friday. Another trip to the doctor… she’s getting better, just slowly. Home until Wednesday and a nap is in order in mommy’s bed.

Day 138 ~ Marcellus

Dominic’s theater class performed their spring play, Hamlet, Zombie Killer of Denmark. Dominic played Marcellus, Officer of the Guards, and did a smashing job on his lines! The kids did the costumes, makeup, sets, props, everything themselves!

Day 138 ~ Yorick

The boy that was supposed to play Yorick, the jester, was out sick so Dominic volunteered to do his part too. He got all zombie-died and did a perfect job moaning and slumbering about.

Day 138 ~ Zombie Makeup

Here’s a closeup of Dominic’s zombie makeup for the part of Yorick in Hamlet, Zombie Killer of Denmark. I’m so happy Dominic has found theater to be fun… he will always have friends and will always have a place with this group. <3

Day 139 ~ The Candy Wall

A trip into Buccee’s for post-dinner candy dessert for Dominic proves to be fun for him but overwhelming for me. I’m trying to count points again on WW. Sigh… so much temptation!!!

Day 140 ~ Mate and Eat

I realized today that I hadn’t gotten any nature or macro shots all week, but I was worried it wasn’t going to happen at all. We had so much rain this morning that they actually canceled school today! But this afternoon, the sun came out, the kids napped, and I took a walk in our lot next door. I found this pair of hoverflies mating and realized one of them is eating too. Snort, now that’s efficient! And every man’s dream, am I right?!

Day 140 ~ Wings of Pink

I changed my angle to the hoverflies and got a little lower. The light reflecting on the wings reveals they are shimmery pink. So pretty!

Day 140 ~ Hairstreak on the Side

I found this almost white hairstreak butterfly visiting a Brown-Eyed Susan, the contrast is so beautiful. The hairstreak has a dummy face and antenna on its bottom to confuse predators. Since he was hanging nearly upside down when I took this shot, I turned the image 90-degrees counterclockwise so that we could see him more clearly.
