366 in 52 [2016] ~ Week Fifteen

Curtis and I are eating healthier and exercising regularly. I’m starting to get some energy back the closer my thyroid level gets to normal so I’m back on the elliptical and back to walking. I hope that when I hit the year mark from surgeries, I’m closer to my starting weight. This has been so hard. I wish I didn’t care so much.

Day Ninety-Nine ~ Birdbath Drink With Friends

Mom and I had not seen Big Rick in months and months. It was awesome that he and his dog, Piper, came for a visit on Friday. My pack got along well with Piper but mom’s dog, Cricket, was not thrilled. Here Rick is giving everyone a drink from the bird bath. I dashed inside for my camera because Piper was standing up and drinking from the bird bath when it was on the stand. She wouldn’t do it again though.

Day One Hundred ~ Best Buddies

Curtis and Dominic went camping with the Boy Scouts to Palmetto State Park, so me and my girls went out to eat at Herbert’s, our favorite Tex-Mex restaurant here in New Braunfels. Anna and Nana truly are Best Buddies. If you aren’t familiar with the program, I highly recommend you check it out.

Day One Hundred-One ~ Girlfriend Time

I spent most of the day cleaning my house. Curtis and Dominic didn’t get home until noon and mom had kept Anna the night before. I’m not sure I have ever slept alone in this house before. I need alone time in order to feel balanced (true introvert here) so I turned up the music and cleaned. The boys got home, showered, and collapsed for naps, so I invited my girlfriend (and neighbor), Dana, to join me for an afternoon glass of wine. It was great to catch up with her and sit on the patio enjoying our beautiful spring.

Day One Hundred-One ~ Silkworm Suspended

While Dana and I were finishing up our glass of wine, something caught my eye in mid-air. I had to go investigate. It was a tiny silkworm, suspended in mid-air from our live oak tree. It was so small and breezy, that I had to manually focus to get this shot.

Day One Hundred-Two ~ On His Playground

Cooper is adjusting nicely to life in the Thompson household. He is happiest out of his cage and on one of our shoulders, but he also likes being on his little playground. He’s a very sweet little cockatiel.

Day One Hundred-Three ~ Full Bloom

This is the rosebush in our backyard. Mom has done an incredible job taking care of our flowers, bushes, shrubs, and trees (is there a difference between bushes and shrubs, lol?). She pruned the roses when she was supposed to and they came back this year with a bang! Wow, look!!!

Day One Hundred-Three ~ Grumpy Rose

This rose is from a much smaller bush with just a few blooms and is red instead of pink. This one rose that was in bloom has a grumpy face. Do you see it? I’m always anthropomorphizing flowers.

Day One Hundred-Three ~ Pink and Green

I spotted this tiny green spider on a snapdragon blossom in the raised garden bed mom made me. I love pink and green together, they are such pretty colors.

Day One Hundred-Four ~ Late for the Bus

I don’t know what was in the air but both kids were running late. Anna would not get out of bed and had to skip half her breakfast in order to be ready for the bus. Her bus picks her up at 7:08 a.m. and Dominic’s comes at 7:31 a.m. for school that starts at 8:30 a.m. (they go to the same school but ride different buses). That’s one thing that’s a bit harder living out in the hill country. Dominic had forgotten his white board and ran back to get it which means the bus was waiting on him. He’s made up this elaborate game on the white board that he and his friends play at school. He’s already gotten the white board taken away except for lunch… too distracting.

Day One Hundred-Five ~ Selfie Selfie

I’ve had this idea for a while… take a selfie from behind me of me taking a selfie with my iPhone. It wasn’t exactly what I had envisioned in my head, but it’s the best I could do without a helper.

Day One Hundred-Five ~ What I See

What I see when I look at the world is goodness, miracles, love, kindness, gratitude, and grace. What I see when I look in the mirror is criticism, negativity, ugliness, fatigue, fear, and anxiety. Why can’t I see myself the way others do?
