366 in 52 [2016] ~ Week Fourteen

We have not one, but TWO new family members this week to introduce this week! Of course, we got Anna’s cockatiel, Cooper (more about him below). AND we found out that my mom and her sister have a brother (!!!)… his name is Dell and he lives in Ohio. My mom is beyond excited and happy, and she’s been talking to him daily. I know that Pappy had something to do with us finding him last week because Dell had a major heart attack yesterday morning which required two stents. He is recovering in the hospital and should make a full recovery. Curtis and I hope to meet him over Thanksgiving since we will be there to his family. This is my Uncle Dell!!!

I totally see a family resemblance! We are so happy!!!

I spent more time photographing nature this week than my family… nature (and especially macro) is my Zen place and it makes me happy. I apologize for so many nature photos, but I do so love macro and flowers and bugs. <3

Day Ninety-Two ~ First School Dance

Dominic was so excited to attend his first middle school dance Friday night. He asked his crush to go with him but she was already going with someone else, so he was hoping to connect with another girl, a friend, at the dance. She ditched him to hang with her friends so he wasn’t a very happy boy when I picked him up. He sure looked good though!

Day Ninety-Three ~ Meeting Cooper

Saturday was our road trip to Houston to pick up our baby cockatiel. Anna was sooooo excited! Here she is meeting Cooper for the first time. He is incredibly social and sweet! At just 2 months old, he will really bond with us a lot.

Day Ninety-Four ~ Already in Love

Sunday was spent in Anna’s room playing with Cooper. He especially loves to hang out on her shoulder and play with her glasses. We’ve been whistling the wolf-whistle and he’s already trying to imitate it!

Day Ninety-Four ~ Meeting His Namesake

I just had to have Cooper meet his namesake… Dr. Sheldon Cooper meet Cooper the Cockatiel. Tee hee hee!

Day Ninety-Five ~ Rosebuds and Bokeh

I don’t know why exactly, but I needed a break from shooting our every day lives and wanted to immerse myself in spring. This is a rosebush in our backyard. It’s covered in buds and blooms. I love the way the out of focus buds look as bokeh on the right. So pretty!

Day Ninety-Five ~ Symbol of Love

One of our roses in full bloom. Sheer perfection… the color, the swirl, the velvety softness of the petals.

Day Ninety-Five ~ Purple and Green

Our mealy blue sage is in bloom (but it is totally purple, not blue). I like the way it looks with the sun setting on the grass behind it… such a pretty contrast of colors.

Day Ninety-Five ~ Tiny Wildflower

I have NO idea what this tiny wildflower is called but it reminds me of a miniature bluebonnet.

Day Ninety-Five ~ The Throat of the Flower

Sometimes I like to play with perspective; here I focused on the throat of the flower. I like how the center of the blossom is the same color as the top of its stem.

Day Ninety-Six ~ Discovered

I was out wandering around our raised flower garden that mom created for me when I found a tiny tiny orange spider. This guy was maybe an 1/8″ long! He wasn’t thrilled with me taking pictures at first as you can see… he scurried out of mid-air to hide.

Day Ninety-Six ~ Over the Abyss

Our tiny orange spider was hauling butt all over the garden. Here he is exploring the monkey grass that spilled over the side of the bed.

Day Ninety-Six ~ Wary Friends

Once he realized I wasn’t going away, our little spider friend decided to be wary friends with me. I feel like he’s saying, “Fine, take your picture but do it quickly!”

Day Ninety-Six ~ Making Spooky Shadows

I think this photo is hilarious! My tiny orange friend stopped and waved his legs all around, I swear he was playing with his shadow!

Day Ninety-Seven ~ Where I Live

The morning was overcast and warm and beautiful. On the way to the grocery store, I stopped down by the pond on a whim. There is a huge field of bluebonnets next to the pond… isn’t this beautiful? This is where I live! I am so lucky.

Day Ninety-Seven ~ Down by the Pond

Right next to the field of bluebonnets (you can see them on the far right), there is a beautiful pond where a few ducks live. We have such nice amenities here in River Chase.

Day Ninety-Eight ~ Recovering

It was so pretty out that Curtis and I took all three dogs for a walk over the lunch hour. We were all worn out when we got back, Stuart and Lola are crashed at the end of the bed. I actually tweaked my bad knee on one of the hills, so I’m icing it as I rest.
