Clickin Moms hosts monthly Creativity Challenges which is a wonderful way to stretch yourself artistically. January’s challenge is called “The Unconventional Self-Portrait” and involved taking a self-portrait different than one just smiling in front of the camera. From Sarah Wilkerson, host of the challenge:
“Get a New Perspective: Set the tripod up low (kid height) so that full body shots don’t completely include the adults. Or set things up so that you’re shooting from behind. Or pull way back and get a ton of context and just let be as your family prepares breakfast in the morning or plays together in the backyard. Get creative. You don’t all have to be smiling and facing the camera.“
She goes on to list seven different ideas on how to take an unconventional self-portrait. Here is my contribution… looking outside at the dreary winter day. It’s been overcast and gray for the majority of the last couple of weeks here in Austin, which is unusual for us. I processed this with Onyx from the Film Art presets available in the CM Store.
