The My Four Hens Project 52 theme this week is motherhood! Jenny and I took a stroll by Mill’s Pond the other night and it was teeming with animals. We saw squirrels, ducks (mallards, wood ducks, white ducks), geese, crows, finches and pigeons. Seriously, everywhere you looked, there was life! When I saw this momma duck and her chicks on the other side of the pond, I found a quiet spot behind a tree to observe them. The water they were exploring was still and covered with glittering algae, light filtering in between the branches of the trees surrounding the small pond. She guarded her six chicks well… going ahead to check for danger then waiting for them to catch up. Because the algae was so vividly green and quite distracting, I decided to convert this to black and white.
Thanks for looking!
