Project 52 [Twenty-Twelve]: Week 2 ~ A Zen Moment

I’ve decided that since macro is what brings me the most personal happiness and puts me in a Zen state, I am going to try to make my P52 this year all macro shots. In this month’s issue of Professional Photographer Magazine, I’m quoted on page 26 in response to the question PPA posted on their Facebook wall last month, “In your hectic life as a professional photographer, what brings you a Zen moment?” My response: “When I take my macro lens on an artist’s date with myself. I pick a location and get lost in nature, seeing the tiny world in great detail. Some of my favorite images have come from these outings, and I always find myself re-balanced and re-energized by them.” I was seriously tickled to see my quote in the magazine!

Sarah, with My Four Hens, made Week 2’s theme “life” and in searching for a way to marry that theme and my personal commitment to finding more Zen moments, I spent about 20 minutes at Mill’s Pond this afternoon. There was a crane sitting at the end of the dock and I slowly, oh-s0-slowly, crept forward taking image after image, changing my perspective and composition. This is the image that made me say, “Ahhh” so I knew it was the one to share. Finding your own Zen moments should be party of your everyday life… it’s so important to help you keep things in perspective and keep the joy in your own photography journey.

Thanks for looking!
