Clickin’ Moms has an amazing project underway. It’s called the “I Am a Photographer” campaign, and they are asking the members of the CM community to join together in an effort to empower and uplift the women who do it all — as photographers, artists, mothers, and everything in between. We are to snap a photo of ourselves with a word describing ourselves (and it can’t be mom or photographer!). CM will donate $1 for every image that members submit to benefit RAINN, the nation’s largest anti-sexual assault organization. One in six women are victims of sexual assault; help us to raise as much as we can to help stop this horrific violence.
The submissions so far have been funny, touching, endearing, and amazing. Some of the words used have been “believer,” “old soul,” knitter”, “veteran,” “weapon,” and dozens more.
This is my submission.
This is me with my 10-year old daughter, Anna. She has multiple special needs and over the years, I’ve become a strong advocate for her. Her diagnoses and labels include: PDD-NOS (autism spectrum), epilepsy, intellectual disability, hypotonia, hypothyroidism, kyphoscoliosis, high myopia, and mood disorder.
Included in the photo are my laptop with her YouTube channel playing one of my PDD-NOS informational videos (which has almost 60,000 views), her IEP and ARD binders, my SEPAC (Special Education Parent’s Advisory Council) binder, her medical history binder, all of her medications (Abilify, Lexapro, DDAVP, melatonin, Levothyroxine, Diastat), many parenting books (including books about autism, special needs, and social skills), her behavior chart, her adapted writing materials, and she is wearing two medals she won at the Special Olympics.
Thanks for looking.
