Annual Block Party!

Curtis LOVES to throw a party and we’ve hosted several annual block parties over the last 7-8 years. We missed last year but Curtis was determined to have one this year. So he enlisted my mom’s help in finding a band, he bought the beer and margarita fixins, and all the meat, found an incredible bouncy house, and I made the flyer.

Mom found this awesome band called “Who’s Your Daddy” and they were not only extremely talented, they were personable and fun too! Mom even got up and jammed with them. She had them set up in her garage… it’s so nice that she lives next door.

Dominic was a young politician, shaking everyone’s hands and introducing himself. He was charming and had the best time ever!

One of the neighbors had an aunt visiting who brought her tiny, teacup Yorkie and Anna totally fell in love. What is remarkable is that Anna remembered this dog even though she had not seen her in nearly a year!

Cindy and Mike, neighbors on the other end of our street. They are the nicest family. Mike is a pastor and led us in a beautiful prayer before we ate to honor the veterans and Memorial Day. Thank you, Mike!

The bouncy house was two stories tall and had a huge slide inside. The kids bounced for HOURS. Here is Ian. Isn’t he adorable?

Looking out of our front door after folks started getting settled. I love the sun haze and how all the men seemed to wear blue shirts!

A little glimpse of the neighbors chatting. Here is Sarah and Matt, discussing school and teachers.

The band taking a break and visiting. I was so happy to see they brought some family and friends with them too!

Party time in the front yard. 🙂

A view of Curtis’s setup… the grill leading into the garage where we had burgers, hot dogs, bratwurst, homemade potato salad, potatoes au gratin, baked mac and cheese, fruit, veggies, chips, dip, desserts, beer, water, soda, Capri suns, and margaritas. Oh yeah, yum. Thank you to all the neighbors who donated money or brought a side dish, everything was delicious!

One of our favorite little girls, little Hallie, hamming it up for the crowd.

My sweet, pretty Jenny visiting with Hallie’s family.

I stuck my camera inside the bouncy house and snapped a quick one. 😉

Anna struggled a little bit with the noise and crowd but I remained by her side for most of the evening and she did GREAT. This is such a typical slice of her life… just on the outskirts watching everything.

This is what the bass player does after having two margaritas. Ha!

Anna and I took a little walk down the street and I looked back at our cul-de-sac to see this. Camaraderie, friendship, fun times.

undefined Thanks for sharing our fun day with us! I haven’t seen Curtis so happy and engaged in a long time… he threw a great party and everyone seemed to have a good time. Well done, honey!!!
