This week’s photo challenge at i heart faces is head, shoulders, knees, and toes… anything but a face! I took this photo of Anna and Curtis last May when we went to the Cameron Park Zoo. The orangutan enclosure had this large plexiglass barrier in one section. Anna was enchanted and at first there were no orangutans near us. But she has a connection with animals… I don’t know if it’s because of her autism or because of something in her, but as soon as she approached the glass, this large orangutan came over to investigate her. She put her hand up and they made eye contact. I love how the focus of this photo is on her hand and you can see just a hint of her face in the reflection and a hint of the orangutan’s face through the glare of the glass. I think this was a pretty amazing moment. <3
