Several years ago, Anna could ride her bike with training wheels quite well. Then she had two bad falls in the space of a month and sprained her wrist. Ever since, she’s been too scared to ride. Just in the last month or so, she’s been wanting to ride her bike again, but she is just too big to fit on her little girl’s bike with the training wheels (and she is years away from balancing on two wheels). So we’ve been looking at options and thought an adult tricycle might work. Curtis (who LOVES shopping on Craisglist) found this gently used adult trike for a very reasonable price and picked it up this afternoon. Anna could easily pedal it and she was soon all the way up the street! I love that it has a basket on the back too, so she can bring along her baby dolls. Coming back down the hill to our street is going to take some time to build her confidence and get her comfortable using the hand brakes, but this is such a good option for her. It will be so nice when all the kids are outside riding their bikes, Anna can join in on the fun. Go, Anna!
